About

The Mic Is The Message is a platform for showcasing a wide variety of hip-hop music, primarily from artists not heard on mainstream radio. Created in 2013 as a late-night college-radio show in Davis, CA (KDVS 90.3FM), the format has transitioned to a blog, composed mostly of playlists:

Five Track Friday:          Recent releases.

Quarantunes:                  Weekly mix of recent & older releases to help pass the time.

The Latest Playlist:       Theme-based mixes.

Year in Review:              Re-cap of highlight hip-hop tracks, videos, and performances.

KDVS Archives:             Recordings from KDVS 90.3FM in Davis, CA  (2013 – 2014)

About the Host

Black Lives Matter. I’m a white guy, and I’m a guest in hip-hop culture. I’ve been listening to hip-hop music almost exclusively for the last 17 years, and found that the vast majority of talented hip-hop artists are unrecognized by mainstream radio. I love beats and I love rhymes, and when I find good ones I want to share. Enjoy!
